I’m not sure what’s happened but I’ve definitely been bitten by the cooking bug. Maybe it’s the spring pollen keeping my indoors, but I’ve spent the last week researching what fruits and veggies are in season, and some good recipes to go along with that list. I’ve learned a couple of things. First, knowing what fruits and veggies are in season will prevent you from going to the NYC grocery store in February searching for avocado. Obviously that’s never happened to me, but I’m sure it might be embarrassing for someone who asked that simple question and then got a long explanation from the grocer on where avocados come from. Second, having recipes on hand really help with meal planning. Both of these “knowledge” bits are definitely “commonsense” to the trained chef, but I’m still shocked on how the research and planning helped make my life easier. I thought I’d share some of the fruits of my labor — pun intended— and share with you what I’m cooking this month. Let me know what you’re cooking in the comments below.
